An old building with unique structural requirements
The renovation project described here involves a roughly 300-year-old apartment building in the Sauerland region. The building’s structural condition reflects its age: crooked walls, uneven corners and historic structural features make standard renovation solutions impractical. What is needed are customized, flexible systems that can be adapted to the irregularities and unique characteristics of an historic building.
System Selection: SORIWA Multi Profile
The project team therefore chose a drywall wall system using SORIWA Multi Profiles. This wall system is particularly well-suited for interior renovations in existing buildings, as its flexibility makes it ideal for walls with irregular contours. The profiles can be installed with a precise fit while also offering clear advantages during installation.
Project Description
The first floor of the building, which had last been renovated in 1950, underwent a complete gut renovation. This was followed by reconstruction work, tailored to the architectural features of the historic building. The work was carried out by Sternberg Bautechnik, a specialist contractor for high-quality interior construction.
Focus on Safe Installation
Mr. Sternberg, a master carpenter and managing director, shares his experience with conventional steel profiles: “My employees and I have cut ourselves on steel profiles so many times—some of the cuts even required stitches.”
After doing his own research on Instagram, Mr. Sternberg decided on the SORIWA Multi-System. A decisive factor was the safe and quick installation without sharp edges—a key feature of the SORIWA Multi profiles.
