A drywall profile without steel –

could this be an option for your next project?

Rethinking design.
The resource-efficient alternative to steel profiles.

The requirements for architecture and building design are changing fundamentally. The pressure to reduce resource consumption, waste generation, and greenhouse gas emissions is steadily increasing  partly due to new legal requirements and funding criteria.

The construction industry currently accounts for the following worldwide:

about
40%

of energy consumption

approx.
50%

of waste generation

about
60%

resource consumption1

For planners, this means that building materials must be reconsidered, reassessed and integrated in new ways  without compromising on quality, safety, or predictability.

Conserving resources starts with the details – with the profile

SORIWA develops drywall systems based on a completely steel-free approach. Our multi-layer SORIWA Multi Profiles are made from recycled cellulose fibers – a material with  a significantly proven lower carbon footprint than conventional steel profiles. Our profiles are specifically designed for use in non-load-bearing interior walls and offer an innovative alternative to steel and wood.

The SORIWA Multi Profile
More than just a profile – an innovative alternative to steel and wood

The SORIWA Multi Profile can be installed in two different systems. Choose the system that best suits your project and discover the possibilities:

In the SORIWA Multi-System, SORIWA products replace the entire stud framework of a drywall partition. In addition to the SORIWA Multi Profile, the SORIWA Connector and the SORIWA Core are also used to create a closed, steel-free system.

In the SORIWA Hybrid System, the SORIWA Multi Profiles replace only the conventional stell C-studs, while the U-tracks and UA-profiles remain made of steel. The SORIWA Multi Profiles are designed for precise installation and are therefore compatible with standard drywall steal profiles. This allows up to 80% of the steel in a wall construction to be replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions

Water damage does not immediately cause the wall structure to fail. As part of our product testing, drywall walls using SORIWA Multi profiles were constructed in such a way that the lower sections of the walls were deliberately submerged in water for several centimeters – to simulate typical damage scenarios. Once the moisture had receded, the profiles dried out, and their original dimensional stability was restored. Whether the wall needs to be repaired must be assessed on a case-by-case basis depending on the extent of the damage – just as with any other drywall system.

The SORIWA Multi Profile is classified as building material class E in accordance with DIN EN 13501-1 and is therefore approved for use in interior construction in Germany.
In tested wall constructions with double sheathing using a gypsum board (GKB) or fiber-reinforced gypsum board (GKF), fire resistance classes EI30 and EI60 according to DIN EN 13501-2 are achieved, depending on the design.

As part of the acoustic tests conducted in accordance with DIN EN ISO 717-1, the following sound reduction indices (Rw) were determined for the SORIWA Multi Profile: 44.2 dB for single-layer cladding and 52.3 dB for double-layer cladding.
